what i did over lockdown (part 2, electric boogaloo)

So over lockdown I actually wanted to practice making videos some more. Animations, almost. I never really got into animating despite always wanting too. The people who do it have the patience of a saint unlike myself. I cannot imagine doing hours and hours of drawing just to get two seconds worth of work done. However, I did challenge myself in such a way. I created a video, I won't be cruel to the animation community by calling it so. An animatic, perhaps. A video it is but it definitely isn't an animation. It's... something like a storyboard? Maybe.

Be warned, it's edgy. It was made towards the end of my "depression period" of lockdown so I wasn't really feeling anything happy however the ending had me torn, if anyone out there reading bothered to watch it. It's a story about a demon (oh god, she's one of those girls, the ones who write about magic and demons and angels. god i bet she likes anime too) the actual story being about a demon who gets caught by an exorcist and forced into becoming a human. To me, its a fun concept. The human eating demon gets hunted by the human and captured by them and forced to stay and live out their days as a human. Of course, it ends in tragedy as the demon realises she is in fact a monster and kills her capture, leaving behind a child because of her own wrath. The story itself conveyed in the video has to do with the comic I am currently writing with my friend from America. It's something of a very long term project  and it's pretty big. This video is just a part of the backstory of one of the main characters. It almost feels weirdly nice to have somewhere public to write about parts of it. In a weird, sort of way.

Recently I've had the urge to do another video of sorts, not sure how not sure when and I'm no longer in that dark and depressing period of my life so I feel like I wouldn't be able to create something quite as on par as this on the very edgy and weird scale. It'd probably be cutesy and happy and nobody likes that. It's uh, as the industry puts it, cringe.
here is, in fact, another video I created for same said American friend from earlier. Just as a warning, it's some Japanese robot singing and the song itself will most likely not be to everyone's tastes. My friend has a particular hobby of creating her own singing robots the voice you hear is her own but transformed into a Japanese synthetic voice. Apparently her brother can hear her voice but I've never heard it myself. Probably because I've never heard her sing. That might be why. Anyways, this was also done during the very beginning of lockdown and it's... anime in nature. But it felt fitting somehow. My friend gave me free reign to do whatever I wanted with the video so I decided to go with a drowning theme, why not! I liked the imagery for the video overall. The close up of her different body parts as she sinks away into the deep ocean, her tears that bubble and fly up rather than fall down. The dreary blue-ness of it all. It's uh, deep, like the ocean, you could perhaps say.
