I've never really considered myself someone who particularly cared about fashion, or clothes in general. My style is throw on some jeans, a black slogan tee and maybe a jacket or a cardigan on top. I mean for god's sake I used to wear crocs around the house while feeling totally epic and on top of the world. However, someway or another today's lecture managed to change my views on that. It's actually impossible to not be passionate about clothes. Clothes are something we all have to wear, without it we strip ourselves of our identity. Without clothes I'm just a girl with half a tattoo sleeve, short hair and clearly loves food a little too much based on her weight. It's kind of scary how clothes have defined the society humans have created. Thank the gods out there for setting a demon snake on Adam and Eve, because now we get to wrap ourselves up in various fabrics to give us some meaning to ourselves as an identity. 

​So I was promptly asked with my newfound love of clothing to select one of my items of clothing and write about it. I learnt a lot about how clothing really shows individuality, how it shows who you are as a person whether you're conscious of it or not. The secret judgements you pass on a person when you see them wearing something perhaps you typically wouldn't. The secret respect you can hold for someone who can pull off a peacock-like outfit. The item of clothing I chose however was my hearty cardigan. 

Why the cardigan? You may ask. You might ponder that this is just a humble cardigan, but I am very passionate about this cardigan. More than I'd like to admit. 

I believe I bought the cardigan from H&M, not that I care about brands typically. It was probably because it was in the sale area and you never see baggy oversized clothing in H&M typically, just skimpy crop tops with slogans like 'WHITE GURLS AMIRITE'. So I felt that I had found myself an absolute rarity. A gem in the rough if you will. The rough being shops with clothing exclusively for girls size 4 and below that is. I don't know or particularly care what it's made of, it's probably polyester with a side of cotton to give it a sense that isn't just plastic. Instead, I care about how well it lasts, and it has lasted my many years so far. I believe I bought it in 2014, and it's still good to this day, sure it has a small patch of murky green paint on it but what can you do when you're really messy when it comes to painting, it's happened to probably each of my clothing. That's probably where the individuality comes in, you can probably make the safe judgement that I'm clumsy by the amount of paint stains on it, and frankly, I'm very proud of it. Why else do I like this cardigan? Well I've always been more of a fan of baggy or loose clothes, ones where they don't shape your figure well but instead conceal it. I could probably go into a deep thought as to why I prefer not to have something that doesn't shape my figure but I'll be blunt and say that I don't have the figure for most clothing at the best of time. That sounds more insecure than it is. I just want to look good and feel good in my day to day, it's not hard when you have a cute warm-beige oversized cardigan that goes past your hands and you look super cuddly. What can really go wrong with that?

I think subconsciously I've been influenced by Japanese fashion, especially harajuku street fashion. It's always so quirky an strange, but fundamentally it's all very oversized fashion. I mean it can get ridiculous, look how big those jeans are. They're huge. It feels very cutesy and freeing, in all honesty. It's funny how a reserved country as Japan has such a big fashion subculture now, especially on the streets of Tokyo. Whether or not it was intentionally put into this style of fashion I don't know, H&M is a Swedish brand after all, it does get cold there, it is a practical cardigan as well as being extremely comfy and looking very cute. 

Other than that, there's not much to say about my paint splodged warm-beige cardigan, I could say something about the colours but I've always had a love for pink-ish colours. When I bought it I was going through an intense pastel phase where everything I owned had to have been a cute desaturated colours. I like a bit more vibrancy now, but when I'm feeling calm and happy, I usually wear my warm-beige oversized battered cardigan. 

Not that I didn't enjoy myself, it's more that I like going for a running theme/joke. It was partially that I wanted to be a depressed dad on holiday for that day. But it turned out I don't like looking at the camera so instead it became a depressed teen who doesn't know how to take pictures of herself at the right angles.
